BJP Seeks Purging of TTD Governing Body
KAKINADA: BJP’s former state president Somu Veerraju has urged the state government to purge the present TTD governing body and appoint only Hindus who would protect the Sanathana Dharma.
The government should avoid situations of giving such board positions to persons having a criminal background.
Meanwhile, in protest against the appointment of “non-religious” persons and “criminals” in the TTD governing body, the BJP has taken up a signature campaign in all the assembly segments.
Speaking to the media at Rajamahendravaram on Monday, Veerraju said the appointment of non-religious people in Hindu religious committees was an insult to Hindus.
“The present TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakara Reddy had stated in his election affidavit that he was a Christian. Chief minister Jagan Reddy ignored this aspect. He also appointed persons with criminal history and insulted the Hindus,” he alleged.
The BJP started the signature campaign in the Uma Ramalingeswara Swamy Devasthanam, the Uma Kotilingeshwara Swamy Devasthanam, the Uma Markandeya Swamy Devasthanam and other places on Monday. It would continue for three days till August 30.
Rajamahendravaram assembly segment convener Yenumula Rangarao, the party district general secretary Bura Ramachandra and others were present.
