Belagavi: Protesting the re-induction of Mr K J George into the state cabinet after his resignation over the suicide of a police officer, DySP Ganapati some months ago, BJP general secretary, Ravikumar declared on Wednesday that the BJP was prepared to launch a state-wide agitation against the government on the issue .

Addressing a joint press conference with Belagavi MP, Suresh Angadi, he also blamed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the many setbacks the state had suffered in the Supreme Court on the Cauvery water dispute.

Moving on, the two leaders announced that the BJP intended to work out its strategy for the next assembly poll and discuss ways to strengthen it at the grassroots during its executive committee meeting in Belagavi on October 3 and 4. Besides several senior leaders, the meeting will be attended by around 600 members of the party and will be chaired by state BJP president, B.S. Yeddyurappa. It will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Commerce, Nirmala Sitaraman.

Revealing that special sessions to discuss ways to popularise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programmes and give the party a boost in the state would be held on the inaugural day,  Mr Angadi claimed that several major schemes of the Centre like the Mudra and gas pipeline were not reaching the people owing to the Congress led state government's lethargy.

“The executive will take a call on how to ensure proper implementation of all  Central -sponsored projects in the state,” he added.
