Bengaluru: It was clearly war as BJP corporators held a protest before the Mayoral elections could get underway on Thursday carrying placards with slogans like "Wake up, Siddaramanna wake up!", Are the roads filled with potholes or potholes filled with roads?.

The corporators also gave a deadline of October 8 to the BBMP to fill all the potholes in the city and announce a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the  flood affected. “Otherwise we will organise a protest and lock up the BBMP,” they warned.

The protest was held before Kempegowda's statue at Hudson Circle, opposite the BBMP head office before the Mayoral election. Senior BJP leader, R Ashok, who led the protest, advised CM Siddaramaiah to "at least wake up now when the city is drowning."

Ridiculing outgoing Mayor G Padmavathi, he claimed that her only achievement was to create more pothole ridden roads in the city.

BJP MLA Suresh Kumar alleged that the Congress was taking the help of proxy voters to win the Mayoral elections.
