Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced that a portrait of S.S Ramasamy Padaiyachi would be unveiled in the Assembly, as a mark of respect here on Sunday.

“Some people, running a party for Vanniyar community, were trying to create a stain on the AIADMK government and they were unable to digest the fact that the ruling AIADMK was running the government machinery,” he said.
Stating that former Chief Ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa had introduced several schemes for Vanniyar people, Palaniswami said, “The demands placed by leader of Vanniyar Federation would be considered by the government.
The Vanniyar people at Edappadi in Salem district gave me a political identity, he said, adding that he executed a score of projects in Edappadi, as per their demands. “Those people will always be remembered in my heart.
