BRS Leaders Caught Distributing Money to Voters in Karimnagar, BJP Leaders Allege

WARANGAL: With the main campaign for the Assembly elections having concluded, political parties stepped vigil on their opponents to prevent distribution of money to the voters. Opposition parties accused BRS candidates of distributing money to voters in Peerzadiguda of Medchal constituency here and in Karimnagar on Tuesday. Videos of these incidents have gone viral on social media.

Congress cadres claimed to have caught a woman moving suspiciously in Mallikarjunanagar in Peerzadiguda Municipal Corporation..

“Minister Ch Mallareddy  is pumping money to the voters. We caught this woman with huge amount of cash and the voters' list. We demand strict action in this regard and condemn such practices," Congress activists claimed and said they had handed over the woman and the cash to the authorities.

Mild tension prevailed in Karimnagar when BJP activists claimed to have caught BRS leaders distributing money along with voter slips to the voters inducing them to vote for their party in Kothapalli of Karimnagar Rural mandal. BJP general secretary Bandi Sanjay is taking on minister Gangula Kamalakar in Karimnagar.

Upon receiving information that party leaders were distributing money, BJP leaders rushed to the village and tried to put a stop to it. This led to an argument with the BRS activists. BJP workers shouted slogans against minister Kamalakar, and the BRS leaders tried to push them back, leading to a quarrel between both groups.

Sanjay rushed to Kothapally and expressed anger at the inaction of the Election Commission and police personnel. The police dispersed both groups and tried to forcibly tried to shift Sanjay from the site.

In Vikarabad, Congress workers barged into the BRS office, alleging that money was being distributed to the voters. Police rushed to the spot and detained the Congress workers.

In the last few days, they have been several instances of the BRS candidates being accused by Opposition leaders of distributing money to voters to influence them. Police were called on to check BRS leaders' vehicles in full public view.
