KOCHI: The police, which has failed to take any action against the SFI activists involved in continuous violence on Maharajas and Law College campuses, are conducting midnight raids on homes of KSU leaders in the district. District Congress Committee president T.J. Vinod said the police raided houses of KSU leaders Tito Antony, K. Sethuraj, Tibin Devassy and others and misbehaved with their parents. “The police action cannot be accepted at any levels,” Mr Vinod told reporters here on Sunday.

“If the police is acting like a handmaid of the CPM, the Congress will counter them politically. We will not allow them to enter the residences of a single student.” The police has also filed cases against KSU workers admitted to the hospital after suffering injuries in SFI attacks, he said. The police has launched a witch hunt against KSU while keeping silence on the SFI activists involved in burning the chair of the Maharajas College principal.

The DCC president however conceded that the flags, banners and other publicity materials of DYFI should not have been destroyed. “It should not have happened,” he said. He blamed the stone pelting by SFI activists for the provocation. Besides Mr Vinod, Sherin Varghese, Joseph Antony and M.R. Abhilash also spoke.
