YS Sharmila to resume her Praja prastana padayatra from Feb 2 in Narsampet

ADILABAD: The YSR Telangana is strengthening its organisational heft in view of the approaching assembly elections. As part of this, party president YS Sharmila would resume her ‘Praja prastana’ padayatra from Narsampet, Warangal, on Feb 2.

It was in Narsampet that she had stopped her padayatra, midway through it, after an attack on her convoy sometime ago.

Members of the Rajakeeya Karyacharana Committee of the party held a meeting with important leaders, assembly constituency coordinators and district and mandal presidents of erstwhile Adilabad district here on Sunday.

A member of the committee, Gattu Ramachander Rao, said the party would strengthen the organisational setup from the grassroots and form committees for the party and its frontal organisations.

He said the TRS has lost its credibility after its re-christening as BRS while the other parties in Telangana have their own national agendas. “YS Sharmila is the only leader who is fighting for the people of Telangana vis-à-vis the problems of unemployment, farmers, women and land, education etc. She is the only leader raising public issues, unlike other parties,” he stressed.

He recalled that Sharmila walked 3,500km despite the hurdles created by the state government and some politicians. “She is ready to complete the mission and would become the chief minister of Telangana, like her father YS Rajasekhar Reddy and brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.”

He said that after completing the last leg of the padayatra, which would be completed in 15 days from Narsampet, Sharmila would take up a bus yatra in Hyderabad city and visit the areas which were left out in the pada yatra.

Former ZP chairperson of Khammam and party women wing state president Gadipalli Kavitha said the YS Telangana party would emerge as a strong political force.

She came down heavily on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, saying he was encouraging belt shops and addiction among the youth, but not issuing pattas to the podu lands cultivated by tribals. “It was the late chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy who gave pattas to the extent of 3 lakh acres during his term.”

Bejjanki Anil Kumarm, the party coordinator for the erstwhile Adilabad district, said it was high time for the party cadre and leaders to actively prepare for the next elections. Adilabad district observer Ramesh, Shantha Kumar, Jagati Kalpana and others also spoke.
