THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat Kummanam Rajasekharan has just Rs 512 on hand and deposits of Rs 1,05,212 with two branches of the erstwhile State Bank of Travancore.
This was disclosed by Rajashekharan in the affidavit filed along with the nomination papers here on Friday. He owns ancestral property worth Rs 10 lakh. Out of the Rs 31,83,871 received as salary as Governor, the BJP leader had donated the entire proceeds barring the amount declared in bank deposits, to voluntary organisations.
The 66-year-old BJP leader filed income-tax returns for the first time this year after declaring his income as Governor. There are two cases registered against him related to unauthorised public gatherings registered at the Cantonment Police Station here. Chief trustee of Harivarasanam Chari-table Trust, Balaman-iamma, paid security deposit of Rs 25,000 for him.
