Lok Sabha polls 2019: Telangana declares holidays On April 11, May 23

The government directed the labour department to declare a paid holiday on April 11.

Hyderabad: The state government on Friday issued orders declaring holidays on April 11 when the Lok Sabha elections will be held in the state, and on May 23, the counting day.

The government said the April 11 holiday was declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, for all government offices and educational institutions.

Another GO was issued to declare holiday on May 23. The government directed the labour department to declare a paid holiday on April 11.

The state government authorised collectors and election officers to declare local holiday on April 10, the day before the poll, as a large number of public buildings, including educational institutions, will be utilised for the purpose of setting up polling stations.

The government also authorised collectors and election officers to declare a local holiday on May 23 if necessary.
