Big Boss is bad for our families: Hindu Makkal Katchi

Chennai: Kamal Haasan’s Big Boss 2 has come under attack from the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) with its leader Arjun Sampath swearing he would launch “a major public contact programme to plead with the families to boycott the show as it’s terribly against our tradition and culture”.
“Kamal is a very popular and highly talented actor; he must use his faculties and charisma for positive and productive results. And now he has entered politics, floated his party; hence he has an even greater responsibility towards the society”, Arjun Sampath told DC in an interview.
“This show will harm the mindset of our youth and children, will create negative impact on families through its content and the manner in which the participants are dressing and acting. There are scenes that denigrate women, create caste and communal tensions”, he said, while listing out the various “offending and objectionable scenes” in BB2 to argue his case that the producers should “review its content”.
“This second edition is not having much following, so they are creating deliberate provocation through objectionable and offensive material”, said Arjun Sampath, who had objected to BB1 too on similar grounds.
He said he has already written to Chief Minister K. Palaniswamy appealing for action against the TV channel and the show producers for airing “such an offensive content as a reality show”. Since the visual medium has huge influence on the masses, the producers should exercise utmost caution in ensuring that their content remained “clean and eligible to enter our living room for the families to watch without wincing in embarrassment”.
