HYDERABAD: Congress senior leader Sonia Gandhi could have made party former president Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister if she wanted, senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao said on Saturday, adding that the utterances of Union home minister Amit Shah against the opposition alliance INDIA were meaningless.

The Congress had always stood for social justice and helping the disadvantaged sections of society, while the BJP did the bidding of corporate houses, Hanumantha Rao said. “Why did Modi not respond to the Manipur developments until the video went viral? Shah is speaking on Manipur because the opposition leaders are visiting the state,” he said.

Hanumantha Rao said the party would issue its BC declaration after the Congress completes the enumeration exercise of the community.
