Telangana Congress to reach out to stakeholders for Minorities Declaration
The meeting will be held next week in Hyderabad and attended by top Congress leaders
Hyderabad: Intensifying its outreach to minorities ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the Congress on Wednesday constituted sub-groups of the Minorities Declaration Committee to meet with the stakeholders.
The committee finalised leaders and representatives from various religious and social organisations, who will be approached in person for their inputs on the declaration. Congress members, part of the four to five sub-groups, will meet with these leaders in the next three to four days.
“We have decided to hold an interactive meeting with various intellectuals, organisations, civil society groups and other stakeholders to discuss the proposed Minorities Declaration,” Shabbir Ali, TPCC’s political affairs committee (PAC) convenor, said.
“The meeting will be held next week in Hyderabad and attended by top Congress leaders. It will be an interactive meeting, where we will facilitate individuals and organisations to submit their suggestions directly,” he said.
Shabbir Ali said that the declaration committee will also reach out to minority groups in districts before finalising it. “Our intention is to gather as many ideas and suggestions as possible from the community members. We will be approaching Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, and other minorities to incorporate their wishes and aspirations in the declaration, as well as manifesto.”
The leader also rapped the BRS, saying the Congress declaration will expose the state government’s failures in implementing minority welfare schemes. “The minorities declaration will be a comprehensive and visionary document that will cover all aspects of minorities welfare,” he said.
TPCC senior vice president and committee convenor Zafar Javeed said that several organisations have started sharing their suggestions with the committee members, informing that a WhatsApp number and an email ID will also be shared by Thursday for sending inputs.
The committee held its second meeting on Wednesday, chaired by PAC convenor and committee chairman Mohammed Ali Shabbir. Convenor Zafar Javeed, Shaik Abdullah Sohail, Uzma Shakir, Faheem Qureshi, B. Ezekiel, Syed Azmathullah Hussaini, Deepak John, and Rashed Khan took part in the meeting.
