Hyderabad: Former minister and Zaheerabad legislator Dr J. Geetha Reddy started her election campaign for the upcoming elections by praying at the Siddivinayaka temple at Rejinthal in Zaheerabad constituency on Saturday.

Dr Reddy posted about her campaign launch on her Twitter handle saying, “Started my election campaign by seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha at the revered Sri Siddivinayaka Temple (Rejinthal village) in my constituency. May Bappa bless us all!”

Speaking to this newspaper, she criticised caretaker Chief Minister K, Chandrasekhar Rao and said she had never seen such a Chief Minister in her 32-year political career. “The difference between all the elections I faced earlier and this one is that we have a dictatorial government which I had not seen earlier. The Chief Minister wants to suppress all the opposition leaders and keeps targeting us. But we have never been bothered by this since the people understand the dictatorship of KCR and his family,” Dr Geetha Reddy said.

“In the undivided state, the Congress Chief Ministers had given a chance to four Telangana women to be ministers. It is a shame that the TRS government has not given a single ministry to a woman candidate. The difference between the Congress Chief Ministers and KCR is that Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, K. Rosaiah and N. Kiran Kumar Reddy used to listen to grievances from the people every morning,” she said.

“Mr Rao has not even visited the Secretariat. How can a Chief Minister avoid speaking to the people? The people of Telangana state have noticed all these actions and will teach the CM a brilliant lesson with their lack of votes,” Dr Reddy said.

She said, “I began my poll campaign from Zaheerabad. I am confident since I have been an MLA twice from this constituency. I have brought several industries and created several employment opportunities for the youth and implemented various welfare schemes during my tenure as minister. The TRS government has lost its credibility by making fake promises and failing to keep their poll promises.”
