New Delhi: Putting the Ram Mandir high on its electoral agenda, the BJP is all set to initiate its political razzmatazz at Ayodhya on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the charge for the BJP to hold a roadshow and inaugurate an airport and the redeveloped railway station at Ayodhya on Saturday.

The temple town has been virtually covered with flowers and murals for Prime Minister Modi’s visit.

The construction of a grand Ram temple is now underway in Ayodhya, with the consecration ceremony due to be held on January 22, which will be attended by the Prime Minister.

During his visit on Saturday, the PM will inaugurate the redeveloped Ayodhya railway station and flag off new Amrit Bharat trains and Vande Bharat trains. He will also dedicate several other railway projects to the nation. Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the newly-built Ayodhya Airport.

Later, Modi will also inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 15,700 crores in the state, that include projects worth over Rs 11,100 crores for the development of Ayodhya and its surrounding areas.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said the Prime Minister’s vision was to develop modern world-class infrastructure in Ayodhya, improve connectivity and revamp its civic facilities while also conforming to the city’s rich history and heritage.

“In realisation of this vision, a new airport, new redeveloped railway station, newly redeveloped, widened and beautified roads and other civic infrastructure is being inaugurated in the city. Further, the foundation stones of a number of new projects will be laid that will contribute to beautification and revamp of civic facilities in and around Ayodhya,” it said.

Sources said Mr Modi will hold a roadshow on a stretch between the airport and the railway station, and that security has been beefed up on the proposed stretch.

It is learnt that besides Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, local MPs and MLAs and a few party leaders will be present. Modi’s visit also comes less than a month before the “consecration” of the Ram mandir, which is due on January 22, 2024.

A large number of people are expected to arrive in Ayodhya close to the consecration ceremony, and the city is getting decked up for the big day.
