TRS will sweep polls, says Kalwakuntla Kavitha
Nizamabad MP Kavitha said that the party welcomes any political front of the Opposition parties.
Hyderabad: Nizamabad MP Kalwakuntla Kavitha is confident that the ruling TRS party will sweep the next elections. She said this has been echoed in a number of surveys conducted by private agencies predicting a TRS win in a minimum of 100 Assembly seats.
“It is going to be a one-sided affair for the TRS, whenever an election is held it will be the TRS who triumphs all the way,” she said in an interaction with the media at the State Secretariat on Monday.
However, she refused to confirm whether she would contest for the Lok Sabha or the Assembly election. “It is for the party to decide on my candidature either for the Lok Sabha or Assembly, I will merely follow,” Ms Kavitha replied.
She said only time will prove who is going to be the successor of party chief and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.
She also hinted at more Congress leaders waiting to join the TRS party and it was for the party chief to decide on their admissions.
Brushing aside the theory that a political front comprising of Opposition parties may pose a serious threat to the TRS in the coming elections, she said, “We welcome any front of parties. For that matter, we welcome Kodandaram also to float a party. Nothing will happen to the TRS — the verdict of the Telangana people is already in favour of TRS”.
Ms Kavitha welcomed the statement of TD senior leader Motkuapalli Naras-imhulu who said it would be prudent for the state unit TD to merge into the TRS.
