Alliance with BJP should be decided by party, says D Jayakumar
Jayakumar dismisses party leader Ponnaiyan averment.
AIADMK senior and Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar dismissed party leader C. Ponnaiyan’s averment that the AIADMK will not have poll alliance with the BJP, as his personal view and that it does not reflect the party’s stand.
Contending that a crucial decision such as alliance formation is invariably made collectively by the party by convening the general council, the executive committee and State office bearers’ meeting, the Minister said only the announcement made by the party should be construed as official.
The Minister was speaking to reporters after participating in a loan distribution function held at the Central Cooperative Bank in T. Nagar here on Wednesday, along with Cooperation Minister Sellur K. Raju.
He said AIADMK would ensure “a Himalayan victory” in the Lok Sabha poll and also the bye-election to 21 Assembly constituencies.
“We are striving towards achieving this goal,” he said.
To a question Mr Sellur Raju said only Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami would decide on waiving off the farm loans.
The government, he said, is willing to ex-tend loans to eligible persons.
