Chennai: Denying Speaker's P. Dhanapal's charges that the DMK members were misbehaving in the Assembly and addressing him in a disrespectful manner, Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin on Saturday said his party members were only seeking proper justice from the Speaker.

Stalin who visited his constituency Kolathur and received petitions from the people, said the Speaker was making wrong and absurd charges on the DMK members.

He accused the Speaker of behaving in a partisan manner and the allegations were aimed at covering up the Speaker's ‘anti-democratic and anti-people tendency’. There was no iota of truth in his charges, Stalin asserted. He also said when the DMK members stage walk out, they do not boycott the entire proceedings of the day, but return to the House and take part in other discussions.

The DMK boycotted the Assembly on Friday, since the only agenda was the reply of the state finance minister O. Panneerselvam. The DMK was continuously participating in the Assembly proceedings and expressing its views whenever the party gets a chance, he explained.

Earlier, he discussed the development schemes for Kolathur with the government officials. He asked about the renovation and construction of new building at the government school in GKM Colony. The officials said the estimate had been sent to the government and the project would be implemented soon. Stalin also promised to allocate funds from his constituency development fund to buy an RO system for drinking water to the school. He also spoke with the electricity officials and asked them to replace the old transformers, power cables and other materials with new ones.

He also requested them to bury the high voltage cables under the ground. He also sanctioned marriage and educational aid for women.
