DMK seeks state's stand on UDAY scheme
Jayalalithaa during an election rally at Vridhachalam said UDAY scheme wanted the state govts to accept the debt burden of the electricity boards.
Chennai: DMK chief M. Karunanidhi on Saturday asked if the state government had accepted the UDAY scheme aimed at curbing power theft and changing the electricity charges as per the manufacturing costs.
Citing the state government’s earlier stand that the scheme would only benefit private electricity producers and banks, he asked if the state government had changed its views.
The state government had said the centre would not have to spend even a single rupee for forming the infrastructure to prevent power theft and would not be useful to the people.
Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa during an election rally at Vridhachalam said UDAY scheme wanted the state governments to accept the debt burden of the electricity boards and it would affect Tamil government and people, the DMK leader said.
