Take up AIIMS project delay with PM, PMK tells Jayalalithaa

Chennai: PMK youth wing leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday demanded the state government to take up the issue of delay in establishing AIIMS institution in the state with the Central government.
In a statement here, Dr Anbumani said that Central government had announced in its budget in 2015-16 that five AIIMS institution would be established including in Tamil Nadu.
A Central team visited Tamil Nadu in April last year for inspecting five suitable locations for an AIIMS Hospital but no decision was taken even after 15 months, he said, adding that in the other four states — Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir — sites for the AIIMS was decided. “Other states have signed agreements and fund allocation has been made,” he said.
Stating that chief minister should have met Prime Narendra Modi and health minister to expedite the project, he said that at least now, Jayalalithaa should met Prime Minister in this regard without any further delay.
