Medical scam has no links with BJP: Kummanam Rajasekharan
Mr. Rajasekharan also said that some party leaders were expelled for indulging in undesirable activities.
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan has stated before the Lok Ayukta that the medical college scam has no connection with the party. He also disowned an inquiry report said to be that of the party.
Deposing before the Lok Ayukta on Thursday in connection with a petition regarding the alleged scam, Mr. Rajasekharan said that he had asked the party state vice- president K.P. Sreesan and state secretary A. K. Nazeer to inquire about some media reports regarding the allegation. They had later informed the party secretary that it had no connection with the party and hence he did not inquire further about it.
Mr. Rajasekharan also said that some party leaders were expelled for indulging in undesirable activities.
Meanwhile, Mr R. Shaji, Varkala-based SR Medical College and Research Centre owner and Bharat Dharma Jana Sena leader, who allegedly paid the bribe, deposed before the Lok Ayukta that though Sreesan and Nazeer had spoken to him regarding the issue, they did not record any statement signed by him. He also said that he had not lodged any complaint with Mr. Rajasekharan in this regard.
The Lok Ayukta issued notices to Sreesan and Nazeer to give statements in this connection. The case will be considered again on September 27. Senior BJP leader P.S. Sreedharan Pillai represented Mr. Rajasekharan at the Lok Ayukta.
