BENGALURU: Appointments to Boards and Corporations in Karnataka will be finalized by January 15, with both MLAs and party workers having an equal share in them, announced the President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday.

Earlier, objections were raised by party workers against the appointment of MLAs to Boards and Corporations, contending that MLAs already held a position. They emphasized that party workers contribute significantly to the success of party nominees, and by appointing MLAs, they miss opportunities to contest Assembly elections.

Shivakumar assured that party workers would receive their fair share in appointments to Boards and Corporations. He mentioned that the list of appointments is nearly ready and will be finalized by the Sankranti festival, falling on January 15.

The Deputy Chief Minister also announced the launch of a public grievance redressal program, "Government at Your Doorstep," on January 3 in Bengaluru city. During these programs, people can submit their appeals or petitions, with an Aadhar card or PAN card being mandatory for submission. The program will be conducted in 2-3 Assembly constituencies at a time in Bengaluru city.

Explaining the objective of the program, Shivakumar highlighted its aim to bring the government directly to the people's doorsteps, facilitating the resolution of grievances without the need for individuals to approach officials or elected representatives. He encouraged residents of Bengaluru city to utilize the program, where officials from various departments will address complaints on the spot and attempt to resolve issues within the legal framework.

Shivakumar noted that similar public redressal programs have been successfully conducted in Kanakapura and Ramanagar previously.
