AK Antony Predicts His Son's Defeat in Pathanamthitta
Modi to become prime minister for the third time: Anil Antony
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AK Antony, a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), and his son Anil Antony, who is the NDA candidate from Pathanamthitta constituency, had a face-off with each other on Tuesday regarding the possible outcome of the Lok Sabha polls.
During a press conference, A K Antony stated that his son Anil K Antony would face a significant defeat in Pathanamthitta in the upcoming polls. He also mentioned that the Congress candidate Anto Antony would emerge victorious with a substantial majority, even if he is not able to campaign in the constituency owing to health issues.
The former defence minister said it was wrong for the children of Congress leaders to join BJP. “I have maintained right from the beginning that family and politics are two different things. I don’t want to say much about my children,” he said.
In response to his father's statement, Anil Antony expressed that there are some outdated leaders in the Congress party. He sympathized with his father, who always supports the Gandhi family and speaks for Antony Antony, who has taken an anti-national stance on issues like Pulwama.
The BJP candidate expressed confidence in winning the Pathanamthitta seat. "Narendra Modi would become the Prime Minister for the third time, and the Congress party led by Rahul Gandhi would not even become the opposition in the Lok Sabha," he said.
Pathanamthitta is witnessing a triangular contest between sitting MP Anto Antony of the Congress, former finance minister T M Thomas Isaac of the CPM and Anil K Antony of the BJP. Kerala goes to polls in the second phase on April 26.
