BJP Hails HC Order Scrapping OBC Quota for Muslims
The party’s OBC cell attacks Cong., TMC for giving quotas to 77 Muslim classes at the cost of OBCs
HYDERABAD: BJP’s OBC Morcha national president Dr K. Laxman welcomed the Calcutta High Court verdict scrapping OBC status for 77 Muslim classes. He said the Congress and the Trinamool Congress play appeasement politics and provide reservations to Muslims at the cost of OBCs.
To appease Muslim minorities, violating OBC rights is a cruel act by these parties, he said. He pointed out that giving four per cent reservations to Muslims in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana under BC-E quota is also unconstitutional. In Karnataka, the Congress government gave reservations to Muslims under category-II B and did injustice to backward classes, he said.
Laxman condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement that she would not implement the Calcutta High Court order. Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal too made a similar statement against the court verdict. These parties have been linking the court verdict with politics, he said.
Laxman also pointed out that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised BC rights during the recent Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi unleashed a false campaign that the BJP is against Muslims. The BJP will lead a national movement to preserve the rights of backward classes, he said. He urged BC groups to unite and raise their voice to protect their rights.
