Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay from Telangana inducted into Union Cabinet

New Delhi: BJP leaders Gangapuram Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar were sworn-in as Union Cabinet in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government on Sunday. This is the first time that Telangana is getting two Union ministers.

Kishan Reddy has been inducted as Cabinet Minister for the second time, while Sanjay is making his debut, Kishan Reddy served as Cabinet Minister in Modi’s second term as culture minister. Kishan Reddy was earlier minister of state for home under Amit Shah.

Speaking to reporters earlier, Kishan Reddy thanked people for reposing faith in the BJP which had helped get two Cabinet berths for the state. He thanked Prime Minister Modi and party president J.P. Nadda for the chance. He also thanked party workers for the impressive victory in the recent Lok Sabha polls.

“The BJP alone can make a party worker, who works with utmost devotion in the street, can become a tall leader in Delhi. The party treats every worker as a member of a family”, he said and assured to work relentlessly for the next five years to fulfill the promises made in the Sankalp Patra.

Kishan Reddy said the BJP was fast emerging as a strong force in Telangana as it had won eight Assembly and 8 Lok Sabha seats in a short span and secured 35 per cent vote share. “The BJP will emerge as the strongest force in south India,” he said.

Sanjay took oath in Hindi in the name of God. When his name was called for the oath, the large gathering cheered him and slogans of `Jai Bandi’ were raised.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, Sanjay said that he was feeling elated and it was a special day in his life. He specially thanked the party high command and Prime Minister Modi for giving him a chance.

Stating that he would always be indebted to people of Karimnagar, Sanjay requested the Congress-led Telangana government to forget about politics and join hands to work for all-round development of the state. He also assured that he would work for the development of Karimnagar and Telangana and try to stand by the confidence reposed on him by the people.
