CPI(M) Urges CM Revanth Reddy for White Paper on Water Crisis
HYDERABAD: A team of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) that visited the Medigadda barrage has written to Chief Miniter A. Revanth Reddy seeking a White Paper on the water situation in the state’s reservoirs and alternative arrangements to save farmers' crops. They said that the pillars at the Medigadda barrage were sinking further, and may speed up with the onset of rains.
The problem at the Annaram barrage cannot be wished away as the danger remains though the leakage has been plugged. They sought action on those responsible for the damage to the barrage after the judicial inquiry, and said this was the outcome of collusion of BRS leaders and contractors.
It put the onus for the present condition on the BRS government which did not prepare a crop plan. The Congress government has not prepared a contingency plan to deal with the situation and has left the farmers in a confused state, the party said.
“We appeal to the CM to directly intervene and do the needful,” said the letter written by CPM state secretariat members S. Veeraiah, Julakanti Ranga Reddy, G. Nagaiah and T. Sagar.
