‘Makkaludan Muthalvar’ to go to villages

Chennai:The Chief Minister’s ‘Makkaludan Muthalvar’ scheme, under which petitions are received from the people for redress of their complaints, would be implemented in rural areas from July 15 to September 15 following the scheme’s success in urban pockets, where 8.74 lakh petitions were disposed in the last five months.

An official press release said on Tuesday that the scheme, whose name literally translates as ‘Chief Minister with the People’ was launched at Coimbatore on December 18, 2023, and 2,058 camps were conducted to receive the petitions from the people in Corporations, Municipalities and Town panchayats.

In the next phase, 2500 camps would be held at 12,525 panchayats covering 388 unions in 37 districts, the release said.
