Take action against Vizag cops, Atchannaidu urges CEO
Visakhapatnam: State TD president Kinjarapu Atchannaidu in a letter to State Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena has expressed his concern with regard to Kancharapalem incident in Visakhapatnam and said that the Vizag police had failed to take strict action against the accused. In his letter, Atchannaidu urged the CEO to take action against the Vizag police officials.
The Vizag police, he said, instead of taking action against the accused, had filed cases against the media outlets who had reported on the incident. Atchannaidu accused the YSRC of trying to cover up the violence that occurred at various places after the state elections.
He alleged that the Vizag police were threatening the media with legal action. He claimed that in the Kancharapalem incident, women were attacked because they did not vote for YSRC. He also expressed his support for Vishnu Kumar Raju, the BJP candidate for Visakhapatnam North assembly constituency, who held a media conference on the incident and demanded strict action against the accused.
Atchannaidu alleged that the police and YSRC leaders were trying to distort the information and demanded an immediate action against the Vizag police. He also sent a copy of the letter to the Central Election Commission and the DGP.
