Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is focussing on social engineering and giving top priority to BCs, SCs, STs and minorities, which did wonders for him in the 2019 elections.

VIJAYAWADA: YSRC legislators, ticket aspirants and leaders are tense over release of the party’s fifth list of party in-charges, which is likely to be released in a day or two.

According to trusted sources, while four lists have been released so far, two more lists will be released in the next four or five days. There are rivalries and groupism in several constituencies. Thus, the YSRC high-command is conducting a resurvey in several segments.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is focussing on social engineering and giving top priority to BCs, SCs, STs and minorities, which did wonders for him in the 2019 elections.

YSRC has so far released names of 58 Assembly in-charges, comprising 21 SCs, 3 STs, 17 BCs, 4 minorities and 13 upper castes. Among the 10 Lok Sabha in-charges, there are six BCs, two SCs, one ST and one OC.
Trusted sources said the CM wants to embark on poll campaigning from January 25. He thus wants to announce the list of candidates in a couple of days.
Ministers and legislators are continuing to visit the CM’s Camp Office to know about their fate. Minister K. Satyanarayana, and MLAs D. Chandrasekhar, M. Venugopal, G. Srikanth Reddy and others visited the CM’s Camp Office and met the party’s top brass.
Sources say as YSRC MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry has shifted to Jana Sena, the high command is working on bringing a new candidate for Machilipatnam. There are chances of continuing the present MP Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu for Narasaraopet, as he is unwilling to shift to Guntur and if Jagan reconsider him, otherwise a BC candidate is expected to be appointed for Narasaraopet MP seat. Further, due to reluctance of Devarayalu, the party high command is considering fielding former MP Modugula Venugopal Reddy or cine actor Ali from the Guntur MP seat.
There are chances of nominating a BC aspirant or a famous Telugu cine director for the Rajahmundry MP seat. Deliberations are on finalising in-charges for Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Amalapuram, Narsapuram and Bapatla MP seats.
