President Murmu Conveys Condolences for Kanchanjunga Express Train Accident Victims

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday conveyed condolences to the people who lost their lives in the Kanchanjunga Express train accident in West Bengal and also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
"The news of the loss of lives due to a train accident in Darjeeling, West Bengal is deeply distressing. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and success of relief and rescue operations," the President wrote in her post on X.
On Monday morning, a goods train rammed into Kanchanjunga Express near New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, killing 9 people and injuring 46 others.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his condolences and said that the accident is saddening. PM Modi also announced exgratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
Earlier, West Bengal Cheif Minister Mamata Banerjee and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also conveyed their condolences to the victims.
