Mumbai: The Mumbai police has received yet another threat directed at actor Salman Khan. A WhatsApp message to the Mumbai Traffic Police, an unidentified sender has demanded Rs five crore from Khan to “end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi”.

An official from Mumbai police confirmed that the traffic control room on Thursday received the message threatening Khan with “worse than Baba Siddique. The message sent on traffic police’s WhatsApp helpline read, “Don’t take it lightly, if Salman Khan wants to stay alive and wants to end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, then he will have to payRs five crore. If the money is not given, Salman Khan’s condition will be worse than Baba Siddique.”

The official said that the police has taken the matter very seriously and launched an investigation into it. A case has been registered at the Worli police station.

Baba Siddique (66), a Nationalist Congress Party leader and a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead on October 12 night outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqu’s office in Bandra area of Mumbai. The police are investigating several angles in the case including the possibility that the politician was killed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang because of his close friendship with Khan. The Bishnoi gang has made attempts to attack the actor because of his alleged involvement in the killing of a blackbuck in 1998. The animal is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.

According to reports, the police have increased the actor’s security. He has also imported a Rs two crore bulletproof SUV from Dubai.

Meanwhile, the police on Friday arrested five more accused persons in connection with the murder Baba Siddique, taking the total number of arrests in the case to nine. According to the police, the five men were involved in the conspiracy and also provided logistical support for carrying out Siddique’s murder. The accused have been identified as Nitin Sapre (32), Ram Kanojia (44), Sambhaji Kisan Pardhi,Pradeep Thombre (37) and Chetan Pardhi (27).

“Based on specific information, raids were carried out by the Crime Branch in Panvel and Karjat in Raigad district, leading to the arrest of these five persons for conspiracy related to the crime and its execution,” the official said.

Joint Commissioner of Police Lakshmi Gautam confirmed that Nitin Sapre was in touch with the main conspirator and he had supplied three pistols to the Bishnoi gang members.
