Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his frequent visits to Maharashtra. Mr. Thackeray alleged that the Prime Minister is coming to Mumbai to provide benefits to his contractor friends. Referring to the Gujarati community in Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief also warned that those who are denying Marathi people entry into their companies shall be dealt sternly.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) organised a job fair in Mumbai for unemployed youths. Speaking at the event, Mr. Thackeray said, “Prime Minister is coming to make profits for his contractors. The projects worth of thousands of crores of rupees have been announced. Where will this money go? I Don’t know. The projects, which were inaugurated by the Prime Minister, have not been completed.”

Mr. Thackeray also pointed out that the Prime Minister had performed jal pujan of ‘Shiv Smarak’ — a memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian sea — which is still incomplete. “I was also present for Jal Pujan of Shiv Smarak,” he said.

It is pertinent to note that Jal-Pujan of Shiv Smarak was performed in December 2016 by the Prime Minister in the Arabian Sea, around 1.5 kms away from Mumbai shoreline opposite Marine Drive.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief also alleged that for the contracts of the road constructions were issued, the office bearers of the ruling parties are being bribed by the contractors, who are earning profits through the works.

Mr. Thackeray said that the ruling parties have been merely announcing the schemes, which are not going to help people. “The schemes shall be executed. In the last two and half years, not a single project has been inaugurated. After destabilizing the government (led by him) in Maharashtra, the investors are not ready to come to the state. This is a harsh reality,” he claimed.

Taking a dig at the BJP-led Mahayuti government, the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief said, “In one and half months, the people of the state will show Mr. Modi’s party and his traitor friends (Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP) their place in the Assembly election. After the assembly elections, there will be no place for the traitors, who will become jobless and come to us seeking employment. I am not going to give a job to any traitor after the elections.”

In June 2022, Eknath Shinde along with 39 Shiv Sena MLAs parted ways with Uddhav Thackeray. Since then, Mr. Thackeray repeatedly refers to the as “traitors”. He said that the ruling parties are looting the state in the name of the projects and the Mava Vikas Aghadi would take account of this loot after coming to Power.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief said that the Marathi speaking people are getting employment because of his party. He warned people, who are refusing to give jobs to the Marathi speaking people. “Some days ago, there were some advertisements stating that there was no entry to Marathi speaking people. If such advertisements are now seen, the door of such companies will be broken by the Marathi speaking men,” he said.
