Chennai: Minister for Youth Welfare and Programme Implementation, Udhayanidhi Stalin, launched a special platform of the Tamil Nadu Women’s Development Corporation, under the 'Vazhndhu Kattuvom' (Let’s Prove Ourselves By Living) scheme 2.0 named TN-RISE (Tamil Nadu – Rural Incubator and Start-Up Enabler) with financial assistance from the World Bank.

The initiative, based on the announcement made by Chief Minister M K Stalin in the State Assembly, was aimed at creating more women entrepreneurs from rural areas of the State, reflecting the progressive tradition of the Dravidian Movement, Udhayanidhi Stalin said.

Stating that women were enslaved in two domains, the material domain and the cultural domain, he said that organizations like The World Bank were working to liberate women in the material domain and it was the Dravidian movement that strove hard to liberate women from enslavement in the cultural domain.

‘Now, our Dravidian Model government is proud to join hands with The World Bank in empowering women in the material domain as well,’ he said.

Since women entrepreneurs faced numerous challenges in advancing their business ideas, as well as in accessing finance, credit, and marketing opportunities, TN RISE aimed to eliminate these obstacles by offering customized market linkages, financing, and operational advice, he said.

‘Also, it will provide high-end business incubation services to women-led rural enterprises and I am proud to say that TN-RISE has signed MoUs with various multinational companies like Flipkart and HP to provide guidance and training for our budding women entrepreneurs,’ he said.

The Minister invited industries and entrepreneurs to join hands with the State government in the noble cause of making more women entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu, he said.
