VMC Inspects Drinking Water Supply in Moghalrajpuram, Says No Water Contamination
Vijayawada: The civic chief inspected the water supply in Moghalarajpuram on Tuesday and ruled out chances of its “contamination.”
This was in response to complaints following the death of a 45-year-old man due to diarrhea allegedly caused by drinking water supplied through civic pipelines of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC).
The commissioner inspected the drinking water supply in Patamatavari Veedhi, Gummadi Veedhi, Atluri Parvathamma Veedhi, Water Tank Road, Ashramam Road and Boyapati Road areas. He also drove to the Moghalarajpuram water tank and examined the filtration process there.
The civic chief interacted with colony residents, heard their views on drinking water supply and checked the quality of the water supplied to households in the area.
“Only a single diarrhea case was reported and no other family member or neighbour was affected by diarrhea. The result of the preliminary testing of water was negative. We sent the water samples for further testing to Guntur GGH,” he said.
The commissioner said officials would carry out a door-to-door survey and address the issues raised by the residents. “Pipelines will be cleaned to ensure quality water is supplied to the residents,” he said.
He, however, advised the residents to boil water and drink to ensure their health and safety.
