Wayanad Landslide: Preliminary List of 138 Persons Compiled

Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of the Wayanad landslide disaster at Chooralmala and Mundakkai, the district administration has released a preliminary list of the missing persons. The list was compiled following the directive of the cabinet sub-committee.

The list comprises 138 individuals who disappeared following the disaster, all of whom were directly impacted by the landslide and permanent residents of the areas struck by the calamity. For this purpose, documents like ration cards and voter lists from the affected regions were scrutinized.

The compilation of the missing persons list was conducted by cross-referencing authentic documents held by the gram panchayat, ICDS, district education office, labour department, and district disaster management authority. This list was finalised after excluding individuals who are presently accommodated in relief camps, staying with relatives, admitted in hospitals, as well as those whose deaths are officially recorded.
