Women make beeline at Lucknow Congress office demanding guarantee card of Rs.1 lakh
Lucknow: Several women made a beeline in front of the office of the Congress in Lucknow demanding that the guarantee cards of Rs.1 lakh promised during Lok Sabha elections be given immediately.
The Congress and its alliance partners promised to give cards to the women of poor households during the election campaign. Saying ‘Khatakhat-Khatakhat-Khatakhat,’ the Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi promised to give the guarantee cards to the women from the poor families.
The Congress also distributed these cards to many women in Lucknow and its surroundings during the campaign assuring Rs.1 lakh every year. The women said that the Congress leaders also promised to transfer the amount directly into their account.
After completion of counting on Tuesday, several women clad in burqa gathered in front of the Congress office and demanded the party give cards to them. The women claimed that they voted for Congress and thus it must give cards to them.
Responding to the women’s demand, many netizens found fault with the parties for luring voters with false promises. “Please take this case to the court. Happy to contribute my little share towards legal expenses. These parties and winning candidates should be held accountable,” a netizen tweeted.
In another tweet, a netizen said, “The women should file ‘cheating cases’ against the leaders Congress and SP.”
