AP aims at $2.4 trillion economy: CM

Naidu pledges economic growth, $42,000 per capita income, and inclusive development for Andhra Pradesh by 2047

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stressed the importance of tackling economic inequalities, and committed himself to raise the financial status of the poor across Andhra Pradesh.

He stated on Thursday, “We aim for a $2.4 trillion economy and a per capita income of $42,000 by 2047; we are committed to building a prosperous and inclusive Andhra Pradesh, focusing on empowerment and development for all citizens.”

"The people have reposed faith in me as they believed that if I am back, the state will progress faster and that wealth can be created through generation of employment opportunities,” he said.

Giving a PowerPoint presentation at the state Secretariat here on the growth rate in the state, Naidu promised he would retain the people's trust and aimed at achieving a 15 per cent growth rate. "We have set a target of achieving $42,000 per capita income by 2047," he stated.

The Chief Minister said while criticizing the previous government, “In the name of three capitals, Amaravati was totally buried while the Polavaram was completely neglected. The situation was so bad that no one, including the natives of AP, dared to invest in the state.”

Naidu said wealth creation is possible only with development. If the state’s revenue grows, it can be utilised for welfare programmes and poverty can be eliminated. "When I mentioned IT in 1995, people made fun of me but now the same IT is taking people to higher levels," he said.

Pointing out that with the Vision-2020 that he had introduced then, “Telangana is now the number one in per capita income. Telugus are the highest-earning section across the globe now.”

"Now I am laying the foundation for second-generation economic reforms. Open sky policy too has been adopted by me for airports and we also set the stone for the Shamshabad airport," he noted.

The chief minister said, “The state is moving ahead with the Swarnandhra Vision-2047 and we set a target of becoming a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047. The annual growth rate has gone up by 4.03 per cent.”

"We are now moving ahead to take the Telugus to the number one position in the world by implementing the 10 policies in the Swarnandhra Vision-2047. Zero poverty is the first policy and the P-4 is aimed at achieving this," Naidu said.

Referring to the welfare pensions being paid to various kinds of beneficiaries, he announced that the WhatsApp governance is being launched on January 18. Various kinds of corruption-free service will be extended to the people through this mode.

He said the state has received over `4 lakh crore in investments after the TD-led alliance came to power. “The Amaravati works too are progressing as also the Polavaram project works. Godavari and the Pennar rivers will be interlinked by the time the Polavaram is complete. We will make farming more profitable.”

The Chief Minister said, "I am also keen on improving basic amenities and we are taking the Swatchandhra slogan to the people. Roads have been constructed in the past six months and all those who are visiting their native places for Sankranti are extremely happy on moving along through the pothole-free roads."
