Visakhapatnam: Tuni and Narsapuram experienced heatwave conditions on Monday. Such conditions returned to some more parts of the state after a gap of two weeks.

Some parts of the Coastal Andhra Pradesh (CAP) sizzled in hot and humid conditions, with Tuni town in Kakinada district recording a maximum temperature of 40.2°C while the departure was 4.6°C.

Narsapuram of West Godavari registered 39.6°C with a departure of 4.7°C and Machilipatnam of Krishna district recorded 39.6°C and Kakinada registered 38.6°C on Monday.

Weatherman said the hike in temperature was due to sluggish monsoon. Though the monsoon set in on Andhra Pradesh on June 2, two days earlier than usual, this has not intensified, resulting in hot and humid weather conditions in parts of the state, IMD Amaravati said.

There is no significant rainfall activity across the state for the past one week. People in coastal Andhra Pradesh have been experiencing humid and uncomfortable weather for the past few days.

IMD also forecast thunderstorms in north and south coastal AP, Yanam and Rayalaseema till June 21.
