Hyderabad: Stating that the BRS would continue to expose the Congress government's failures, former chief minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday expressed confidence that if elections were to be held in Telangana now, he would be in power again.

Participating in the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan, the BRS headquarters, Rao paid tributes to martyrs and garlanded the statue of Telangana Talli inside the premises.

Speaking to mediapersons later, Rao dismissed the remarks made by Congress and BJP leaders that the BRS would be destroyed. He said that the party’s strong base had helped it in leading the statehood movement for 25 years.

"No one dreamt that Telangana would come. It was realised after 15 years of struggle. They are talking about the end of BRS. These are all temporary setbacks. We will come to power again. If elections are held now, we will romp home," he said.

When the BRS conducted a meeting and fought in Palamuru, water was released to Jurala. At that time, water was given to the right canal for free and charges were collected for the left canal.
The BRS chief hailed Prof. K. Jayashankar as a born Telangana's fighter. He recalled Jayashankar’s struggles for Telangana, when it was difficult to even talk about the region in those days.
The former chief minister extended financial support to the family members of constable Kishtaiah, who laid down his life for Telangana. Incidentally, as his children were young, Rao stood by the family, and took care of their studies. He provided the necessary financial support to Kishtaiah's daughter Priyanka’s MBBS studies. She is now pursuing PG.

Rao gave a cheque for Rs 24 lakh to Kishtaiah's family to cover her medical college fees.
