Chhattisgarh: In suspected human sacrifice, father kills 4-year-old son
Raipur: In a suspected case of human sacrifice, a man in a Chhattisgarh village killed his four-year-old son by slitting his throat, police said on Monday. The incident took place in the village of Mahuadin under Shankargarh police station in Balrampur district on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, police said. According to the police, the accused Kamlesh Nagesia (26) and his wife along with their two children retired to bed on Friday night after having dinner.
The accused however woke up later and took his elder son who was asleep then to the courtyard and laid him down on the ground. He slit his throat after killing a hen in a knife, police said. The kid died on the spot. Later, his wife asked him about their son when she found him missing. The accused told her that he ‘sacrificed’ him, police quoting her said.
She later informed this to her neighbours and other villagers who alerted the police about the incident. “The accused appeared to be mentally unsound and had earlier told his wife and other family members that he used to hear voices asking him to sacrifice someone”, police said. The accused had earlier also attempted to kill his mother, but he was prevented by the family members, according to the police.
The accused was arrested and probe was on into all angles, police said.
