GRP nabs murder suspect, seized 10.43 kg ganja

Hyderabad:The GRP, Secunderabad, along with the RPF staff have arrested a person - who killed a passenger in Shatavahana Express near Secunderabad Railway Station on November 1. The accused has been identified as Lingappa, 28, a labourer, from Karnataka and the deceased was Chirutha Dinesh, 25, a native of Telangana.

Lingappa is a habitual thief and served seven months in jail in Karnatana in 2018. One year ago, he came to Hyderabad and started doing petty thefts.

On November 1 at 3.30 pm, the victim Dinesh boarded Shathavahana Express at Secunderabad Railway Station to travel to Kazipet. He sat at the coach door due to the heavy rush. At about 04.45 pm, the train was slowly moving at Lalaguda outer area. At that time, Lingappa forcefully grabbed Dinesh’s hand to snatch his mobile phone.

Due to this unexpected pull, Dinesh fell and got crushed under the train wheels. His both legs were injured severely and his right leg was amputated from the body. Immediately the accused stole mobile phone from the victim and escaped from there. Some people rushed to the victim and shifted him to Gandhi Hospital. Dinesh died while undergoing treatment on November 5.

In another case, in a surprise check on November 12, the GRP Secunderabad along with RPF staff seized one backpack bag, which was found in suspicious circumstances at 2.30 pm on platform no. 10. On opening the bag, they found five packets of dry ganja weighing about 10.435 kg and worth `2.6 lakh.
