Hyderabad Police raids counterfeit unit supplying duplicate Good Knight Gold Flash, Godrej Expert Hair Dye

Hyderabad: Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), the company with brands like Goodknight, the market leader in the household insecticide category and India’s leading hair colour brand - Godrej Expert Hair Dye, and the Telangana state Police, has recently acted against a supplier in Hyderabad for illegally supplying and storing counterfeit Godrej Expert Hair Dye and packaging materials of Good Knight Gold Flash liquid vapouriser. During routine quality checks mechanism, GCPL received several complaints about counterfeit products being sold in Telangana.
Following these reports, the investigation team, along with the state police, conducted a raid on the supplier’s unit. The raid resulted in confiscation of 2000 units of Good Knight Gold Flash packaging, 85 pcs of packed Good Knight Gold Flash Liquid Vapourisers and 180 pcs of Godrej Expert Hair Dye. An FIR (First Information Report) has been lodged against the accused under sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act, 1957 and section 318(4), 349 of BNS of 2023 against the accused. These sections address counterfeiting and copyright infringement.
The police are currently investigating to identify distribution network responsible for these counterfeit products, aiming to deter the sale of duplicates within Telangana. This action will also send a strong message to the dealers of counterfeit products, ensuring people have access to genuine and safe Good Knight and Godrej Expert products.
Commenting on the issue, Shilpa Suresh, Head of Marketing – Home Care, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), said, “The spread of counterfeit products across the country is a major concern for the FMCG industry. Counterfeits are not only illegal, but also harmful and hazardous to human health. GCPL invests a significant part of its revenue to develop innovative products that continue to serve customers better and our products. We regularly undertake quality checks of our products through a collaboration with our distribution network, local authorities, and consumers. This initiative with the Hyderabad police authorities will reprimand local retailers, manufacturers and distributors of duplicate Good Knight and Godrej Expert products in the state.”
Considering the counterfeit of Good Knight Gold Flash and Godrej Expert Hair Dye is available in the market, people need to be cautious and should purchase the products only with the genuine sales invoice.
