A 22 year old woman, identified as B.Akhila, died by suicide after her lover refused to marry her. The incident occurred in the New LB Nagar area under jeedimetla police station limits on Wednesday night.

The family is heartborken over her death. Speaking to the Deccan Chronicle, Akhila's father Bedaboyina Kumar said that, She had been in a relationship with Akhil Sai Goud, who lives in the same area, for the past eight years. Initially, Akhila rejected his proposal, but he threatened to harm himself if she didn't reciprocate his love. Feeling pressured, Akhila eventually entered into a relationship with him and it was going smooth for some time. But later, she alleged that he was demanding money and threatening her. “She was a bright and loving person who deserved so much more than this” said her grieving father. However they got back together eventually.

He further explained that "We also agreed to their marriage since she is our beloved daughter, and we always wanted to see her happy.” Akhil started quarreling with Akhila over trivial issues. One day, he called her outside and beat her in front of her friends, humiliating her publically. We learned about this incident later when I found her weeping alone in her room. She hid many such incidents because she loved him and sacrificed a lot for him. In fact, Akhil is not even worth any job, he just completed intermediate and then became a rogue and yet demanded a dowry of 70 lakh rupees."

"We had never raised a hand at our daughter, I wonder how dare he did that to my daughter. Who gave that right to him to beat her in public? It is a shameful act. We demand stringent actions towards the accused," demanded B. Kumar.

Situation turned worse when Akhil made it clear that he had no intention of marrying her. Devastated by his refusal and the constant emotional turmoil, Akhila took this extreme step of ending her life by hanging herself at home, says family.

Akhila was a kind hearted girl who always had a smile on her face. It's hard to believe that she is no longer with us. She wrote a 6 page suicide note expressing her agony and how badly Akhil had treated her. He took her for granted and abused her mentally. I was always by her side. She gave her 100% to everything. Indeed she trusted him completely and stayed loyal to somebody who deserved nothing. She had dreamt of achieving things in life. “She has always been my inspiration”, said Akhila's brother B.Siddhartha

A teary-eyed Suvarna., Akhila's mother, said, "My daughter was pressured into this relationship. She tried to make it work, but Akhil's abuse was too much for her to bear. We never expected it would end like this. We never beat her at home, how dare he beat my daughter in public? We demand Justice."

The Jeedimetla police has registered a case and investigation is underway, said Inspector P. Srinivas Rao.
