Hyderabad:A special team of the Kacheguda Government Railway Police arrested a four-member gang for drugging a passenger and recovered Rs 4.5 lakh worth stolen jewellery from them. The GRP was acting on a complaint of a farmer, Siddesh, of Hasan district of Karnataka on September 22. The gang had fed him sedative-laced biscuits on Mysore Express and robbed him. Siddesh woke up in Bengaluru and found his two gold rings and a gold chain missing.

Miyapur Police Discover Unidentified Body Near Restaurant in Balajinagar

Hyderabad: An unidentified body was found near a restaurant at Balajinagar, Miyapur police inspector Durga Ramalinga Prasad said on Thursday. The victim was suspected to be a mendicant. The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary to ascertain the cause of death.

Student Sentenced to Three Years in Jail for Sexual Assault of Minor in Hyderabad

Hyderabad:The Fast-Track Special Judge for expeditious trial and disposal of Pocso Act cases at LB Nagar court on Thursday sentenced a student to three years in jail and a fine of `7,000 for sexually assaulting a minor. The court ordered a compensation of `1 lakh to the victim.

The convict, Arra Ramesh, was arrested by LB Nagar police in 2017 after the victim's family members lodged a complaint against him for sexually assaulting the minor. The accused was booked for stalking and physically harassing the minor

Man Attacks Ex-Girlfriend with Knife

Hyderabad:A man attacked his former girlfriend, a BTech student, with a knife ending their relationship, Uppal police said. Police arrested the accused, R. Sai Kumar, 24.Police said Kumar and the victim, hailing from the same village in Bhongir, had been in a relationship for three years. The duo broke up a month ago, and the victim had been avoiding his calls or texts.

The accused in Thursday went to her college in Moinabad to meet her and returned in a bus to Uppal. There, Kumar allegedly attempted to grab her phone but she prevented him. Kumar then took out a knife and attacked her. She suffered an injury to the left hand.

Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty inspects traffic-prone areas in Cyberabad

Hyderabad:Cyberabad police commissioner Avinash Mohanty and joint commissioner of traffic D. Joel Davis inspected traffic jam-prone areas on Thursday. This inspection was carried out in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including the GHMC, southern discom and Town planning officials and was meant to implement measures aimed at reducing road congestion.

The officers covered the JNTU-Yashoda ROB road, Siddhi Vinayaknagar, Madhapur, and the NIA service road. They also inspected ongoing work to widen the carriageway on both sides from Cyber Towers Junction to Yashoda Hospital.

GHMC zonal commissioner Upender Reddy, TGSPDCL assistant engineer Prashanth, Madhapur traffic assistant commissioner of police Satyanarayana, and Madhapur traffic Inspector G. Narsiah were present.

MBBS Student Dies, Kin Allege Negligence

Hyderabad:A 22-year-old MBBS student died while undergoing treatment at a hospital at about 7 am on Thursday, KPHB police sub-inspector Suman said. The deceased, Varun Choudhary, was suffering from appendicitis and was admitted to a private hospital. After his death, his family alleged medical negligence but did not lodge a complaint with the police.
