Kachiguda GRP arrests four for drugging railway passengers and stealing jewellery worth Rs 4.50 lakh in a major bust

Hyderabad: A special team of government railway protection team of Kachiguda unveiled a gang wanted for drugging railway passengers and stealing their gold ornaments with the arrest of four members and recovered Rs 4.50 lakh worth jewellery.

The GRP Kachiguda police took up the case after victim Siddesh, (49) a farmer and a native of Hassan dist of Karnataka State on September 22 lodged a complaint that he on September 18 after visiting his son in Shamirpet boarded a general compartment of Mysore Express from Kachiguda railway station.

The accused along with three of his associates who were also in the compartment offered him a drugged Bourbon cream biscuit while the train was passing Budvel he ate it and fell unconscious, Siddesh regained conscious in Bangalore and found his two gold ring and a gold chain missing and returned back to Kachiguda and lodged a complaint, S N Syed Jawed, DSB (urban) GRP said during a press meet on Thursday.

The accused sedated the biscuits and fled with his 70 grams of gold and Rs.50,000 from Siddesh, Jawed said.

On September 22 on Siddesh's complaint a case in Cr.No. 186/2024 U/s 123, 109, 303 (2), 318 (4) BNS and investigation taken up by R Yellappa inspector GRP checked the CCTV footage and identified the accused on Thursday, Jawed said. The prime accused identified as Syrendra alias Sonu (38) resident of Nagole, Jan Mohammed Chowdary (37), resident of Amberpet, Krish Kumar, (22) Jaipuri colony, Nagole and Dileep Varma (19) also a resident of Nagole, all the accused work in city POP false ceiling and are natives of UP, DSP said. The accused during interrogation disclosed that they procured Alforaz .25 mg and mixed in the cream biscuits. Police recovered 60 grams of gold from the accused and produced before the court for judicial remand on Thursday.Hon’ble Court for judicial Custody.
