Man arrested for killing wife
Hyderabad:The Malkajgiri police on Friday arrested a man who was accused of killing his wife and was on the run with their one-year-old daughter. The only clue for the police was CCTV footage at Gandhi Hospital. The infant was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after the arrest of the accused Vikram Kumar.
Police said Kumar and wife Soni used to wander from place to place. They arrived at the Malkajgiri station late Monday night from Vijayawada and stayed at some abandoned huts. The next night, when they were at the railway station to leave to another place, the couple quarrelled and Kumar hit Soni on her head. She suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead on November 20. He sped from the spot taking their daughter along.
The hospital management informed the Malkajgiri police and a case was booked. The police procured CCTV footage from Gandhi Hospital which captured his movements when he came to the hospital to admit his wife.
It was found that Vikram is from Rajasthan. A source said that the accused kept feeding the baby with toddy to make her stop crying and as a result, the baby was only sleeping.
