Man Dies in Road Mishap, Driver Held

Hyderabad:Former MPTC K. Prameela’s husband K. Amarender Reddy died after a truck knocked him down when he was attempting to take a U-turn due to the water flow near a dump yard in Thimmaipalle, on Wednesday. The family and relatives alleged that the apathy of the Jawaharnagar Municipal Corporation caused the death.

A tense situation prevailed at the Jawaharnagar dumping yard office on Wednesday afternoon as the family did not move the victim’s body questioning the negligence of civic bodies.

According to the police, Amarender Reddy, on Wednesday morning, was going toward ECIL on his two-wheeler. But he changed his mind after noticing the water flow on the road, which was emanating from a nearby water body and flowing through the dumping yard. While he was taking a U-turn, a truck knocked him down, he suffered head injuries and died on the spot.

After Amarender family was informed about his death, the family and villagers grew angry and stormed the dump yard office questioning the officials about the incident. They broke the glass windows of the office and conducted a protest. Later the police intervened, spoke to the protesting villagers and brought the situation under control. The victim's body was then moved to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, the accused driver identified as Jagadeesh is arrested. He is booked under Section 106 (1) of the BNS, which deals with causing death by rash and negligent driving.
