Man sentenced to lifer in kidnapping, raping of minor

Hyderabad: A mechanic was sentenced to life imprisonment in a case of kidnap and rape of a minor by the Special Court at L.B. Nagar on Monday. The trial in the case was conducted quickly and the accused was awarded punishment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Accused Indrakanti Vamshi Krishna, a resident of Hayathnagar, had been arrested by the Hayathnagar police in Crime No. 880 of 2017, after the victim’s parents lodged a complaint against him. Apart from life conviction, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 21,000 on him and awarded Rs 5 lakh compensation to the victim, a press statement issued by the Rachakonda police PRO stated.
