Medchal constable arrested for sexual assault, blackmail, and forced abortion
Sudhakar Reddy allegedly made friends with the victim when she went to the Medchal police station to lodge a complaint in an unrelated case in March 2024.;
Hyderabad:The Medchal police on Friday arrested their constable Sudhakar Reddy and two others for cheating and sexually assaulting a woman, threatening her and allegedly forcing her to abort a child. The other accused have been identified as the constable’s wife Sindhuja, and associate Kalyan Goud.
Sudhakar Reddy allegedly made friends with the victim when she went to the Medchal police station to lodge a complaint in an unrelated case in March 2024. He then started meeting her frequently and sexually assaulted her.
He proposed to her and lied to her about his marriage. Believing that Sudhakar Reddy was a bachelor, the victim started meeting him often. However, the victim began suspecting Sudhakar Reddy’s claims of being unmarried after seeing children’s clothing at his residence, according to the complaint.
When the victim started showing resistance, Sudhakar Reddy allegedly started blackmailing her, saying he would publicise their private pictures and videos, police said.
Medchal inspector A. Satyanarayana said that Sudhakar Reddy discovered in July last year that the victim was pregnant. He tried to get her to abort the pregnancy but she refused. He then allegedly forcefully thrust some pills which forced an abortion, police said.
In August, the victim accidentally spoke with Sudhakar Reddy’s wife. Two days later, the constable went to the victim's house, allegedly fed her phenyl, and fled spot. The victim managed secured medical aid in time.
A few days later, Sudhakar Reddy forcefully took the victim to his residence in his car where she was assaulted by his wife Sindhuja. He also threatened, along with Kalyan Goud, to get the victim killed if she lodged a complaint with the police.
When he passed casteist slurs and allegedly physically assaulted her again, she reached out to the Medchal police who booked a case and began investigations.
