Karimnagar:The Sircilla police on Tuesday registered a case against a mother after her minor son caused the death of an elderly man due to a collision involving his bike here in Rajanna Sircilla district.

According to DSP K. Chandrasekhar Reddy, the accident occurred near the bust stand in Rudrangi mandal on December 18 when the minor’s bike collided with another bike resulting in the death of a man.

Due to lack of experience, the minor lost control over the bike and caused the accident. Ramulu, 72, sustained severe injuries and suffered excessive bleeding leading to his death on the spot.

On a complaint lodged by the family members of Ramulu, a case was registered against Gaddam Lakshmi, mother of the minor, a widow.

It is the responsibility of parents regarding the safety of their minor children. Criminal cases will be filed against the parents and vehicle owners if minors are caught driving vehicles, the DSP warned.

A special drive was conducted in the district to crack down on driving by minors during which counselling sessions were held for both the minors and their parents.
