Hyderabad: The Suraram police rescued one Maganti Rani, 40, who was kidnapped from her house in Sundarnagar by five men from whom her husband, M. Lakshman. had allegedly taken money by promising jobs in the GHMC.

Police said Rani’s daughter had lodged a complaint stating that her mother was forcibly taken away by five men late on Saturday evening for defaulting on a loan repayment.

Police said that Lakshman had taken Rs 50,000 each from the five persons six months by promising them jobs. When they did not get the jobs, the five persons approached the couple to return the money but failed to get it back.

Following reports that Lakshman had escaped, the five persons kidnapped his wife.

Acting on the daughter’s complaint, the police traced the suspects and located Rani within eight hours, said Suraram inspector A. Venkatesam. He said the police had taken the five persons into custody.
